The Bear Feast 2010
6pm Friday 17th December - noon Sunday 19th December.
A Pagan Animistic celebration of Midwinter based on sub polar shamanism and contemporary animism. The Bear Feast combines moving ritual with silly games, great entertainment and a wonderful fireside atmosphere. It is a not-for-profit event and all proceeds go to Survival International and the ATC.
The main entertainment this year will be provided by the wonderful
Carolyn Hillier and Nigel Shaw.
The venue is an extraordinary outdoor education centre in Cranborne, Dorset. The Cranborne Ancient Technology Centre has a wonderful collection of reconstructed ancient buildings.

Three types of ticket are available:
- Day tickets for Saturday only. Designed for those who can only come for the one day (10 am till late). Price includes the entertainment, lunch and dinner on the Saturday. You'll miss some of the entertainment and Sunday's market and gift exchange, but the main ritual, games and entertainment is on Saturday.
Adults: £35, Child 5-14 £5, Children under 5 free.
Please note the whole Saturday is in effect a ritual (though it might not feel that way when you are sling-shotting sprouts or taking part in a wife carrying race...) and we urge day ticket holders to stay for the whole day, which formally ends with the return of Honey-Paw to the Sky Father around 10.30pm (though fireside revels continue till later). Please make travel arrangements accordingly.
- Weekend tickets including accommodation. SOLD OUT! The accommodation is dormitory style in a Viking Longhouse or Celtic Roundhouse. Price includes accommodation for Friday and Saturday night, entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings, breakfast lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday (everyone brings food to share on Friday). Adult £45, Child 5-14 £10, Children under 5 free.
A limited amount of accommodation is available for people with specific health or mobility problems. If you require special accommodation please get in touch before buying your ticket.
- Weekend tickets without accommodation. For people coming to the whole event but bringing a campervan, tent (brave souls!) or booking accommodation at one of the B&Bs in the village, or locals who want to come to the whole event but who can sleep at home. Price includes entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings, breakfast lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday (everyone brings food to share on Friday).
